What's in store for the TWB

I'll be opening up a personal Youtube channel soon, which I will link the TWB.

Primarily, I am slowly closing the TWB because I don't have enough time anymore to keep it up, and thus will just use my personal channel for my own uploads.

LEGO Pirates and Bret are both canceled because they have been in "development hell" for at least 6 months now.

See ya soon on the new TWB!

Changes will come to TWB! Well, what are they? HERE THEY ARE!!!

We mentioned back in July on our Youtube channel that major changes would be coming to the TWB, starting in December. Now, we're here to confirm what these changes really will be...

  • 'The Weekly Brick' newsletter will be revamped, starting with its return issue in October. The issues will now be posted for download via this blog and the Youtube channel.
  • 'The Weekly Brick' Youtube channel will get a design change, and each video will contain a distinctive intro and ending. More content will be put into the videos, and for series such as 'Bet the Sinking Minifig' and 'Christian's MEGA MOC Mania', there will be new intros and, maybe, Bret might get animated by 2012!
  • Another TWB Youtube channel will be created, up and running by January 1, called "BrickPicks", in which we anaylze or review some of the top LEGO sets of each week! One video per week, and then, some contests MIGHT occur!
  • "Alec and Chris Play Black Ops" will be up by January. Black Ops versions being recorded will be XBOX 360 and PS3. Also, "Alec and Chris Play MW3" will priemere in February. MW3 versions being recorded will be Wii and XBOX 360.
Get ready for these great changes this December!

UPDATE: SOME confirmed 2012 themes!

Okay, we have to admit new NEWS has been SLOW on this blog lately, but we think it is time to sum up some LEGO 2012 confirmations from numerous websites...

  • LEGO City: SORT OF a hospital theme involved because a "Great Vehicles" subtheme is coming in January, as well as the return of Fire & Police, with the twist. That twist is it being a "Forest Rangers" subtheme. Smokey the Bear dejavu, anyone?
  • LEGO Ninjago: Confirmed on eurobricks.com, the storyline behind next year's Ninjago sets will involve Lord Garamadon joining the ninjas, and his evil brother Llyod Garamadon trying to defeat them with his army of snake people! Also brand new monsters and a new form of the trading card and spinner game! Ohh!
  • LEGO Girls: Pics of the new "girl-oriented" minifigs are leaked all over the Internet, and I have to say, it's better than those clunky Belville characters, however, I still think LEGO could of just did standard minifigs! We'll just have to see the sets to judge!
  • LEGO Star Wars: A new line called "planet sets" will be in January, which include a hollow, sphere-shaped planet enclosed with a minifigure and vehicle. Also, some re-vamps of classic Star Wars ships and vehicles, with the focus turning heavily on The Phantom Menace. Also, look out for a new Queen Amidala minifigure in August 2012! Rumors are also lurking of a new, less expensive Death Star (similar to what TLG did with the Falcon this year) and an EXCLUSIVELY new Jabba's Palace! If this is true, that would be super COOL!

  • LEGO Super Heroes: Along with the January and May waves of Marvel and DC Comics sets, come some of your favoritie heroes and villians in Hero Factory-form! So far, Hulk, Batman, and Iron Man were confirmed at SDCC, however Captain America and Joker will be joining them as well!
  • LEGO Pirates: No confirmation on wheter or not the story a LEGO store employee told a fellow Eurobricks member that Disney's POTC sets will continue next year, but because of the mixed reviews that followed the 4th film, the chances seem unlikely. However, anything is possible with LEGO. We might even see the return of classic Pirates, which has been rumored for a couple of months now...
  • LEGO Disney: Marvel is already coming, but could sets based on Pixar's Brave movie come as well? There were sets for Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, why not this one? Hmm....we'll just have to wait to find out!
  • No indeed confirmation on a new action theme, YET...
  • LEGO Minifigures: 10 of the 16 minifigures from Series 6, which is coming in January, have already been released. We'll be seeing a Minotaur, B-movie type alien, butcher, and even the Statue of Liberty soon! Brickjournal Magazine also broke the news a couple of months ago that there WILL be Series 7 and Series 8, and because of its popularity, probably even more!
UPDATE: Darn, just before posting, famed site Eurobricks just said that more Cars 2 sets are coming in January, Disney Princesses will become new DUPLO sets, and that there will be a new Dino theme by LEGO! Wow, news travels fast!

Credits go to Eurobricks and other numerous websites!

Bret the Sinking Minifig Important Announcements!

"Hey look over there, who do ya see? It's Bret, the sinking minifig!
Burlp! Burlp!"

For any TWB fan, you would remember this jingle, as well as that minifigure above! Yep, it's Bret the Sinking Minifig! Well, you're about to get more of Bret with...

BRET THE SINKING MINIFIG: THE MOVIE

Yes, as an apology for the release date change of TWB's LEGO PIRATES: THE MOVIE, we will be releasing the 1st ever Bret the Sinking Minifig movie on December 10, 2011! It's going to be one wacky adventure, where Bret is still looking for a job, gets one very interesting one, but falls in love with the manager's daughter! And, oh wait, why do the rock monsters want to kill Bret? Bret the Sinking Minifig: The Movie will be a great action-adventure comedy coming to the TWB Youtube channel this winter!

And, for those of you who follow the webseries on the TWB, here's some upcoming episodes! And, remember this, if you have any ideas of where Bret should find a job next, post them in the Comments section of this post, and your great ideas might become part of a brand new episode!

  1. Episode 3- Train Conductor (Bret decides to take a job as a train conductor, but a ranting, donut-loving passenger might cause Bret to go on thin ice!)
  2. Episode 4- Whale Trainer (Bret becomes a whale trainer, but has to handle one crazy whale of a tail!)
  3. Episode 5- Scientist (Bret takes a scientist position, but, at Cowboy's school! Oh, boy!)
  4. Episode 6- Back to School (Because of Bret's great work as a scientist, Cowboy gives him a full-term teaching job! But with Bret the sinking minifig, nothing will ever be full-term...)
  5. Episode 7- Why Do I Always Sink? (Bret decides to go to a doctor, and figure out why he always is sinking, but soon finds out shocking details about his family history!)
  6. Episode 8- The Big Dig (Bret takes a construction job on the city Brickton's brand new Big Dig tunnel system project, but soon learns there's more than dirt lurking underground...)
  7. Episode 9- Going Back to School (Bret proclaims to Cowboy Principal that he is a fit teacher. Will Cowboy give him back his regular position?)
  8. SEASON FINALE: Episode 10- Curse of the School Recital, Part Uno (Bret directs the students' first annual school play, but a certain someone from Bret's past cause some trouble...BIG trouble...)

Remember LEGO fans, if you ever have any LEGO news you know about, feel free to contact the TWB through our Youtube Channel, and it will be posted on this blog, with 110% credit going to YOU! Wouldn't it be cool to see your name on an article right here!

BACK FROM THE PAST: Minifig gets "anatomized"

All the way from the past comes that LEGO minifig anatomy created by Jason Freeny in 2008! Boy, I never knew a minifig had that much too it! :P

TWB confirming brand new web series on Youtube!

Exciting news for those who enjoy watching videos on the TWB's official Youtube channel!

  • Christian's MEGA MOC Mania has been renewed for A THIRD SEASON, which will begin late this year. Season 2 is still being uploaded, with episode 5 coming next week. Episode 5 will feature an interview with a mother of 3, who is giving her insight on the connections between LEGO and education. Don't wanna miss that?
  • A 50th Video Anniversary special will be created, and ideas are now being accepted for what it should be? Series episode? Review? Or just us talking about how great being with the TWB really is? YOU, yes, YOU, the LEGO fans, will decide on that!
  • Bret the Sinking Minifig, the newest comedy series on the TWB, will run for two seasons, and I am not confirming wheter or not a third season would go. However, you can enjoy the 2nd episode of the series this week, in which Bret gets stuck in some "smelly" situations, when he gets a gig at a circus.
  • Another new web series will be coming later this year, entitled "Alec and Chris Play Black Ops". It will be exactly what the titles says: Alec and Chris, the head-honchos of TWB playing and doing gameplay demos on Call of Duty Black Ops for the Wii and XBOX 360. It's going be full of humor, and naturally, full of gore! Look for this new series soon!
That's all the TWB Youtube info I can reveal to you now, but more is soon to come! And remember to check out the TWB's Youtube channel today!

New LEGO store in Westchester County, NY?

A listing on LEGO's job database shows a position for a part time seasonal merchandiser for the White Plains/Yonkers area of Westchester County, New York. Now, from the looks of this posting, it seems to be relating itself to a sole LEGO brand store, not just retailers in the area. This could mean a LEGO store is coming to Westchester County, or even a pop-up store for the holiday time. However, this could just be mere speculation, as it doesn't seem like anything LEGO-ey is happening in White Plains or even Yonkers, so far. TWB will keep updating if any more details are released, but from the looks of this job posting, maybe LEGO fan of Westchester's dreams will come true...

Possible LEGO themes for 2012!

After summing up all speculation from LEGO-related websites, these themes are probably what we can expect in 2012:

  • LEGO City Hospital, Construction (confirmed YEARS back!)
  • LEGO City TRU 2nd place fan choice?
  • Continuation of Pharaoh's Quest (new pyramids, new subtheme?)
  • 2nd wave of Pirates of the Caribbean (slightly confirmed by LEGO retail store)
  • New theme (return of Western/Ancient Greece/any sort of action?)
  • Ninjago (probably the final wave, has some sort of alligator/mutant twist, as per teaser poster)
  • Star Wars (anything's possible with that!)
  • LORD OF THE RINGS/THE HOBBIT? If this does happen, it won't be until the end of the year, or even January 2013.
  • Slight chance of classic Pirates? (With the success of 2009's anniversary line and POTC, it's probably approaching!)
  • Collectible Minifigures Series 6, 7, 8, and maybe even 9?
  • The Avengers? (From an article last month, several toy companies, LEGO being one of them, were invited to the set of the new movie. With Disney now in charge of Marvel, we could see that!)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man? (for the 2012 reboot? Hmmm....)
  • More licensed themes and new exclusives (modular houses/buildings, winter exclusive, advent calenders)
These are just speculations summed up together by TWB from numerous websites.

Only time will tell if these rumors ever come true! Usually, signs of the 2012 sets start appearing in August, so keep your eyes peeled!

And also, WELCOME TO THE BRAND NEW TWB BLOG!
